Community engagement that is well planned and delivered unlocks a lot of value to organisations by:
With our strong local and central government and private sector backgrounds, Don Day and I have considerable experience in the planning and delivery of community engagement strategies and operational plans. We are available as consultants to help organisations plan for and deliver their community engagement objectives.
In addition to its consultancy services, Engagementworks has a variety of core training products that will enable organisations to engage more effectively and successfully with their communities and stakeholders.
Community Engagement for Leaders
In this one day workshop, senior managers and organisational leaders, such as board members or elected councillors, will be exposed to the principles and practice of community engagement.
A key focus of this workshop is understanding the governance role of community engagement. This includes senior management being able to see a strategic context and value for engagement initiatives and a framework to judge effectiveness of campaigns and of an organisation’s over-arching engagement strategy.
This workshop provides a highly interactive environment for participants. We can also deliver this workshop in-house, enabling you to involve all of your elected members and senior managers.
Community Engagement for Practitioners
Organisations can have many roles and functions that require community engagement projects. Those roles can include such areas as project management, policy development, democratic services, planning, infrastructure services and communication.
While it is important for an organisation to engage effectively with its stakeholders and communities of interest, effective internal engagement is just as important. Planning internal engagement is a key part of these workshops.
Our Practitioners Programme comprises a series of three workshops that cover the core elements of effective community engagement. Participants are encouraged to come with a specific project in mind. After the workshop series is completed they should not only have a greater understanding about how to plan for and implement effective community engagement, they should also have an engagement plan to support their chosen project.
Each of the workshops is spaced to allow time for participants to work on their projects. Engagementworks’ specialist advisers will make themselves available to each participant during this time to offer guidance and support. This time is included in the participant’s course fees.
Purpose-built engagement training
We can mix and match the elements of our training programmes to meet client needs, budgets and locations.
More information about our workshops and our business can be found on our web site at www.engagementworks.nz where you can also sign up to our newsletter for regular updates.
